Meditating Together, a group meditation practice

This was a meditation challenge during the month of September 2019. @30 people from 7 states met in real-time to meditate. Participants said:

"I was there every morning. I treated it like an appointment."

"I understand just being with what's happening in my life. While meditating my child balanced a flipflop on my head. I just noticed what he was doing and kept breathing."

"I work well with accountability."

"It's comforting to know that I am meditating with others."

"Found comfort and inspiration in the joint process of being connected in silence."

"Let's keep this going."

This feels like a gift—

A few friends asked if I’d create an opportunity for a group to practice meditation together in real-time. What a good idea. As if answering my own wish, here is an opportunity.

There's one teeny challenge—some of us live states apart.

The solution? A phone meet-up. Some of us already meet and meditate via phone, so now I wonder if this can work as a group. (I think so, but let's see.)

WHY?

There are many benefits to meditating with others.

I like thinking of us sitting together as a beautiful pause in a collective gathering of full living.

WHEN?

Begins Monday, September 30 and ends Monday, November 1.

Every weekday at 6:30 AM Eastern (5:30 AM Central; 4:30 AM Pacific).

I’ll start and stop on time.

HOW LONG WILL WE MEDITATE?

Weeks 1 and 2, each day’s session lasts for 10 minutes. Weeks 3 and 4, 15 minutes. Week 5, 20 minutes.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

You and your friends who would like to practice meditation together with others. Both new and practiced meditators are welcome.

WHAT DOES THE PARTICIPANT DO?

The best you can, be on the call every weekday for the month. Think of this as a meditation challenge.

Practice meditation with the group.

WHEN DO I CALL AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

Call a few minutes before the session begins.

All participants are muted. Others will not know who is there, though I'll let you know how many of us are gathering.

We'll open with an aspiration.

I'll say a little.

Then we'll meditate together quietly.

We'll close with a dedication.

I'M IN! WHAT'S THE PHONE NUMBER?
