Student 26

So many exams. So much to study.

What feelings arise?

Anxiety, fear of failure.

How does it affect you?

Sleep to avoid facing studying.

Lots of cramming, prep books, and just general stress.

What is your part?

I can become more organized and just study.

What are you learning?

That I need to come to terms with my workload.

What can you shift or turn around in your thinking and feeling?

You can only go through high school once.

How do you choose work with your difficulty?

No response.

What is this difficulty teaching you?

Grades literally define my life.

NOTE (two weeks after processing difficulty)

My biggest source of anxiety now that AP exams are over is my grade in a certain class. It looks like my final grade will be between an 89.3 and 89.7. It pains me significantly because I have worked so hard this year and I may very well fall short. We only had 1 test (which I did poorly on). I literally forgot about it because it was the week of class elections (which I lost), and it is unbelievably painful to see this pan out. As the only junior in this class, I have the added pressure of applying to my dream college this fall, and I already have my share of B’s this year from other classes. I am going to talk to my teacher and hope she understands; it would be very depressing if my whole class grade is characterized by the one test that came during tough times (class elections this year were CRAZY), and this is the largest cause of anxiety in my life at this time.
